Olivia & Anthony – September 5, 2020

Olivia and Anthony were another couple who had to make some big decisions about how they would get married in the middle of the mess that was 2020. Determined to get married, and to do it in a meaningful way, they worked hard to create a gorgeous wedding day for themselves, and their friends and loved ones!

Olivia’s parents live near the beach in Cobourg in a pretty public spot so not only did we get to enjoy the festivities, so did the passers-by who discovered they had stumbled upon a wedding on their afternoon walk through town! How fun is that?

“My husband and I are basking in the glow of being a newly married couple, and this is largely because of Avril. Working with Avril throughout our wedding planning journey was always a delight. She was always quick to respond if we had any questions, and her guidance and tips along the way were so valuable, especially when writing our own vows. On our wedding day, she was a calming and guiding force as she coached us through our ceremony. Though we both had some nerves, she kept us focused. Avril is such a strong public speaker, and she has a great cadence to her delivery. We can’t imagine our big day without her, and are so thrilled that she is a part of our love story. Thank you, Avril!”

Olivia’s parents’ house is right across from a beautiful park where guests would later picnic to stay within the social distancing guidelines while photos were being taken!

Chairs were arranged, the DJ made sure we could all be heard, and the wedding planner made sure we were all prepped and ready to make magic!

The house has a gorgeous wrap around veranda so there was lots of room for essentials like beverages to keep us all cool and hydrated!

The favour table was across from the drinks trough and had the cutest cookies and preserves!

These days it is so easy to customize your favours – if you need help with that sort of thing please let me know – I have all of the printers, tools, and cutters for labels, tags, and lots more that I use in my custom printing business!

Olivia is a very talented baker and has even been on the news for her creations! She builds the most incredible gingerbread houses that are truly works of art so it would not surprise me one bit to find out she made these sweet cookies for their wedding day too!

Every bit of polling and data shows that edible favours are a huge hit and a fan favourite so you can’t go wrong with locally sourced honey, jams, curds, jellies, and preserves! Every time I am given a jar of something yummy I put it in my cupboard and think of the couple every time I use it! Need a hand with sourcing those? No problem! Just let me know – I live in the country and know several beekeepers and jammers (is that what we call people who make jam?)

The little touches make the biggest difference in how weddings, parties, and events unfold. Because Olivia and Anthony knew their guests would end up in the park, they made sure there were picnic blankets so no one got covered in the ubiquitous goose poop we are all very familiar with her in the Cobourg and Port Hope areas!

(I’ve been trying to use ubiquitous in a sentence for the longest time…thanks to the Canada geese I finally got to slide it in here!)

The evening festivities would take place at the back of the house shhhh no peeking!

Olivia walked to the wedding and was escorted by her parents…look at how proud they are! The neighbours all lined up to cheer her entrance and celebrate the girl they had watched grow up before their eyes!

We were all standing on a box so we would be seen over the railing of the veranda – and I’m not kidding when I said Olivia and Anthony thought of EVERTHING – Anthony emailed me to ask my height to make sure it would be high enough for this pixie sized Officiant!

You can see the height difference here – I stepped off the box and to the side for the big moment! I try to do this at every ceremony so the photographer can get a clean shot of the first kiss and not have to edit me out or try to recreate it later on!

Once the ceremony was almost finished, the Cobourg Town Crier appeared to make a public announcement of Olivia and Anthony’s marriage before I introduced them and sent them down to the garden for hugs and well wishes from their guests! Check out all the people watching from the sidewalk and park!

A quick snap (yes I’m a foot shorter than most of my couples) and hugs before this sweet couple headed off for photos and champagne toasts! What a beautiful celebration for a beautiful couple!
