Back in 2019 I connected with Helena of The Old Smokehouse in Peterborough because I heard through the grapevine that they needed an Officiant for their popup weddings. Helena and I chatted and decided to go for it and our beautiful working relationship was born! Each year since then I have been invited to perform the ceremonies for their popup couples! Helena and her team are absolutely lovely people and I am always excited to visit them for weddings on their property with the most spectacular view!
Billie and Shawn decided to get married in September 2020 and the plans were put in motion!
I was given their email address and we got to work on their ceremony. I always treat popup couples the same way I treat my own couples – with the same level of service and care! Popup couples get the a custom, full-length, one of a kind ceremony and I work closely with each of them to make sure it is absolutely perfect for them!
Check out this view! How lucky am I that I get to work here every wedding season?! And those ferns – so lush and green! Helena works so hard to make sure everything is perfect for our couples!
I see lots of signing tables out there in the world and I am always so impressed at the ways people decorate them for the big day. Don’t forget – your signing table plays a huge role in your wedding day and will be in quite a few of your photos so make it pretty!
Helena covered this table with some vintage lace and fabric and added a sweet vase of wildflowers – this left lots of room for the marriage paperwork and register to be signed!
Helena’s popup weddings always include savoury nibblies for you and your guests, beverages, and a perfectly cute wedding cake for you to cut and share. What more could we need?
Our lovely singer and musician! What a fun time we had before everyone arrived belting out Kenny Rogers songs together to get revved up for the big day! We both agreed Kenny was super hot back in his day – the 80s was a glorious time to be alive! Are you a fan? I think my fave KR song will always be Don’t Fall in Love With a Dreamer that he sang with Kim Carnes….anyhoo back to the wedding!
Ceremony complete – check!
Paperwork signed – check!
First kiss – check!
Now it’s time for group photos! Blue was definitely the 2020 wedding colour and since it’s my favourite colour, I don’t mind one bit! Fingers crossed it sticks around for 2021 as well!
Billie and Shawn had all of their favourite people there surrounding them with love and support as they start the next part of their life together. Look at how proud their moms are! Awww! Magic!
All done and ready for some champagne! Congratulations Billie and Shawn, I had a blast with you!
Thank you to Helena and The Old Smokehouse for including me in your popup weddings – I can’t wait for this year’s couples!
