Fresh flowers are a large part of nearly all wedding décor – it’s a gorgeous, fragrant way to incorporate your wedding colors and beautify your venue. Flowers are certainly not the only way to decorate your ceremony and reception. As you’re planning out your wedding décor, from your centerpieces to your entryway, here are some unconventional décor ideas as a way to make your wedding really stand out and be remembered for years to come!

Donut wall
Make your wedding that much sweeter by decking out an entire wall with donuts. It’s a scrumptious treat and an Instagram-worthy decoration in one! YUM! Don’t forget bags or boxes so your guests can take some home to snack on!

They’re not just for kid birthday parties anymore. Decorating your wedding with colorful balloons adds a fun, whimsical air that lets everyone know it’s time to party. Every town has at least one local balloon artist doing incredible work! There are so many Instagramable moments waiting to happen with your décor, make it count! And don’t forget your wedding arch can be made of balloons to match your colours and theme!

Candles
Candles add romance and beautiful soft light to any wedding reception or dinner. Feature ornate candelabras to give your wedding a vintage feel, or go with classic tapers for a simply elegant look. Check the vintage and antique shops to buy unique candle holders, or meet with your local wedding decorators to rent their items and get even more fun ideas!

Statement floral wall
If you want plenty of wedding florals without it seeming boring or predictable, have your florist take things up a notch. Give him or her the creative liberty to create an artistic floral wall.  It’ll make for some stunning photos. Your wedding will be all over social media just for this…don’t forget the neon sign! ProTip! If your budget doesn’t allow for a wall of fresh flowers, check with your local wedding decorators, they might have a fake one you can rent for the day. You can also ask your photographer if they have a floral backdrop you can use for your ceremony and photo-ops later, and if they don’t have one, just order one online that you can sell after your wedding!

Greenery garlands
Greenery is so trendy right now! Incorporate simple greenery garlands into your wedding, whether you hang them on the walls or use them as table runners. Bonus: greenery is way more affordable than flowers and easy to access most of the year! Meet with your local florist to chat about your ideas and they will recommend the best greenery for your wedding!

Wax paper backdrop
This is one of the most unique ideas I’ve ever seen! It’s romantic, airy, and looks stunning in photos. There are lots of tutorials online so you will be able to make this easily while watching the game or a Hallmark movie! You just need a few simple and easy to find items and you are on your way to a gorgeous wedding backdrop!

Remember, the best wedding décor to choose is what you love most. Don’t worry too much about how wedding décor is supposed to look — pick wedding décor that’s beautiful and bridal to you. Because in the end, your special day is all about celebrating you and your love!
