While there are certain wedding photos you should have on your shot list, you always have the option to add in a few unique shots that will make your album pop. When you are looking for your wedding photographer, look for fun and creative shots along with the posed photos and save the ones you like to show them what makes you light up!
This is your wedding day, and you can be as creative as you want to be. Your wedding photos should showcase your unique style and personalities as a couple. And, with the help of the right photographer, you can capture some memorable moments that will stand out in your wedding album.
Here are some of the most fun ideas I have seen to get your creativity flowing!
The confetti toss
Before you and your bridesmaids head down the aisle, stand in a line or group and throw some confetti in the air – flower petals also work really well. This is such a joyful and playful photo to add to your collection and to gift in a frame to all of your bridesmaids.
Have some fun with Photoshop
Whether you want to have a dinosaur chasing you or incorporate missing guests, find ways to pose that will allow your photographer to Photoshop people, items, or creatures into your photos. Make sure to let your photographer know you want these photos so they can add them to your list.
Heart-shaped dress
Provided your dress has a big enough train, you can create a giant heart for you and your partner to lay on while your photographer takes a shot from above. This is a very popular photo right now and you will love the results!
The sparkler send-off
If you plan to extend your reception into the evening, give each guest a sparkler and get them to create a walkway. Pose with your partner or have a romantic kiss in the middle for an eye-catching evening shot. Please do listen to your photograph regarding timing on this – you want the perfect light and photographers study the sunset to make sure they capture these photos at the perfect time!
The generations
If you have the honor of having your mother and grandmother at your wedding, get a shot of your hands with your wedding rings. This is a beautiful way to showcase the different generations. Don’t forget the guys! Have them to a fun posed photo all together then gift these photos to all of them!
A love letter
If you and your partner are planning to write letters to each other, get your photographer to capture your reactions as you read them. These candid shots are emotional and pure, and you will be so glad you have them in your collection.
Time with your flower girl
Planning to have a flower girl in your wedding? Capture a few shots with just the two of you. Hiding under your veil is a genuine, playful shot that really stands out. I also love the photos of the little girls in the bride’s shoes playing dress up on your wedding day!
Advice from guests
This idea is similar to a photobooth. Get a blackboard that your guests can write advice on and get them to pose for photos with your photographer. You could hire a professional calligrapher to design your blackboard with artwork and your names and date!
The thank you card
Planning to send your guests a thank you card after the wedding? Pose with some thank-you signage with your partner, which you can then use to create a personalized card.
Where did you meet?
Create some detailed memories by giving each bridesmaid a chalkboard that they can use to write down where each of them met you. It’s a nice way to remember that you met some very special people at different times in your life.
Involve the kids
If you are adding a ring bearer or a few flower girls into the ceremony, capture some sweet photos with them. Give your partner a kiss while they look all embarrassed or have them play around your dress if there’s no chance of them ruining it.
Bring in the balloons
Feel like your love lifts you up? Add some helium to a few balloons and jump in the air to make it look like you are both floating away.
These are just a few ideas for how you can add a touch of “something a little different” to your wedding album. Chat to your photographer for more ideas. I can’t wait to see what you come up with!
