Once you start planning a wedding, it pretty much takes over your life. Whether you’re spending time with your girlfriends or having dinner with your partner, there’s bound to be some wedding talk.
It’s hard enough to juggle a career, a social life, and a relationship, let alone plan a wedding in between it all. When you’ve worked all day, you don’t always have the energy to tackle wedding planning tasks too. However, if you tackle them strategically, they won’t feel like a chore or second job. You can also use your lunch hour each day to plow through some of these tasks!
Here’s how to get things done during the week:
Leave the Major Tasks for the Weekend
When it comes to tackling wedding tasks during the week, stick to anything that doesn’t require too much thinking. If you want to search for venues, photographers, and caterers, rather leave this for the weekend, simply because there are so many factors to consider, and you want to be well rested so you don’t get to decision fatigue faster than you would like.
List Tasks That Don’t Feel Like Work
Any tasks that feel more like fun are what you should work into the week. Creating a Pinterest board for hair and makeup styles, reading through sweet ceremony readings, and choosing the liquor and wine for your wedding are all fun and don’t require a lot of energy and can be done anytime, anywhere!
Focus on Your Wedding Party
Sometimes it helps to take the focus off you for one night. Why not use a weekday to look at how you want to style your bridesmaids and groomsmen? Picking out dress styles and color swatches is always a fun way to spend a weeknight when you’ve had a tiring workday.
Choose Inspiring Recipes
Still weighing up the food options for your big day? Choose recipes that will inspire you and help you narrow down your options. If you’re planning any food or cake tastings, try and arrange it after-hours – dinner and dessert is sorted!
Get Organized
What better way to feel calmer about your wedding than to create a system that will keep you organized? There are so many handy checklists available for free online, so find one that works for you and see what you still need to get done. If the list looks overwhelming, rope in family and friends to help.
Do a Bit of Shopping
Unwind after a long day with some retail therapy right from the comfort of your own home. You can order almost anything online, so if you have some wedding shopping to do, get it done during the week instead. While you don’t want to make any big purchases online, items such as wedding accessories and guest favors are ideal for at-home shopping.
Spend Time on Your Wedding Website
If you’ve decided to create a digital invitation instead of printing them, work on one page of your website per week. This is not a task that needs to get done in one evening, so break it up and complete your online invitation at a relaxed pace. This is also a great place to add in all of the details of your wedding day, weekend, or week! I love when a couple sends me their wedding website because it means I get to know everyone a bit before I meet them and learn all about how they met, why they are important, and what they bring to your big day!
While you do want to successfully plan and execute the wedding of your dreams, don’t forget to make time for self-care and each other in the months and weeks leading up to your big day. It’s ok to take a few nights off.
